Feeling Blue

July 31, 2010

I am having a very bad day. The agreement I had for contract work I was doing expires today, and it has yet to be renewed or extended. It’s not looking too good for that to happen, through no fault of my own. I did everything to the letter of the agreement, but I think there was some miscommunication internally on the other end. Of course, my unemployment benefits are long since done, and there is nothing currently in my pipeline.

Being a traditionally minded guy, this cuts be to the core. I feel like I have let my family down and bring very little to the table. Luckily my wife does not agree with my thinking today. She says the chili I made tonight is one of my best ever. My daughter seems to agree.

On a brighter note, I received an email from another potential employer on Thursday with more information about them and why I would want to work there. This made me feel very good about the possibilities that exist for me. The interview for the position in Indiana is scheduled for Monday, and I am really looking forward to that.

Good News

July 28, 2010

After a couple days spent at the pool and missing nap time, my daughter got back to her routine today. The morning was spent reading and playing. We also finished watching Horton Hears a Who after starting it the other day. Lunch went well, as did nap. It’s about time.

Good news today on the job front… I got a call for an interview for the position in Indiana. A third party is doing the interviewing, and I have successfully interviewed with her in the past. It should go well. Knock on wood!

I Have Had It Up to Here!

July 23, 2010

It’s 3:00 in the afternoon, and after a good morning, the little “angel” refuses to go to sleep. She is screaming her head off, and I need to get some work done. She’s just going to have to learn that she can’t always get it her way. I don’t like her to get so worked up, but I have a deadline to meet for a client. Let’s see if I can get four hours worth of work done in two.

Back to Normal

July 21, 2010

My mom has been visiting for the last week, but she left for home this morning. Life goes back to normal, at least the new normal. I am still a stay-at-home dad trying to make a go of my own business and take care of my family the best I can. I applied for jobs today in Florida and Virginia. Both are in my field and very attractive. No word yet on either of the last two positions I applied for. Hopefully I’ll hear something on those soon.
